National HGV Driver Supply

Employ Recruitment supports logistics operators across the UK with structured HGV driver supply designed for regulated, high-performance transport environments.

For many operators, agency drivers are not simply a short-term solution. They are an operational extension of the fleet. When that supply is poorly managed it introduces risk, inconsistency and pressure across transport operations. When it is structured properly it supports resilience, compliance and service stability.

Employ operates as a specialist HGV driver partner, providing experienced drivers, clear onboarding processes and visibility throughout the supply chain. Our focus is not simply filling shifts. It is maintaining operational stability across complex logistics networks.

National Coverage. Structured Delivery.

Employ provides national HGV driver supply through a long-established network of experienced drivers operating across regional transport hubs and key logistics corridors. Our approach combines local driver availability with structured systems designed to support transport managers and logistics planners. Our delivery model focuses on:

  • Experienced HGV drivers operating within regulated logistics environments
  • Structured onboarding aligned with operator compliance standards
  • Driver availability planning to support forecast demand
  • Clear visibility across driver supply and operational delivery

This ensures operators maintain reliable access to experienced drivers while maintaining the governance standards required across modern transport operations.

HGV Driver Live Planning and Visibility

Employ’s live planning technology gives transport teams clear visibility across driver allocation, shift coverage and availability. This allows clients to see supply levels in real time, maintain operational control and plan ahead with confidence

Managing Peak Demand

Logistics demand rarely increases gradually. More often it accelerates quickly, particularly during seasonal uplift, promotional activity or supply chain disruption.  During these periods, the structure behind driver supply becomes critical. Employ supports operators through defined escalation processes designed to stabilise labour availability during peak demand. This includes:

  • Pre-planned standby driver networks
  • Rapid mobilisation of additional drivers when demand increases
  • Cross-regional coordination across our driver network
  • Clear communication with operators to maintain visibility during demand spikes

By planning for pressure before it occurs, operators can maintain service levels while avoiding reactive recruitment decisions that often introduce compliance risk.

Compliance Built into the System

Employ’s driver supply is powered by DRS, the UK’s leading driver recruitment software. Compliance checks, documentation and driver records are managed automatically, giving transport teams complete visibility and confidence that every driver supplied meets the required standards.

Protecting Operational Compliance

Driver compliance remains one of the most important responsibilities within transport operations. Poorly managed agency supply can create unnecessary risk around driver hours, Working Time Directive rules and operator licence obligations.

Employ operates structured onboarding and monitoring processes designed to support compliance integrity. Our framework includes:

  • Driver hours awareness and Working Time Directive alignment
  • Structured onboarding processes for agency drivers entering new fleets
  • Clear documentation and audit trails for driver verification
  • Operational visibility across driver assignments

These systems support transport managers by ensuring agency supply strengthens operational control rather than weakening it.

Supporting Drivers On the Road and Beyond

From wellbeing guidance and fatigue awareness to practical resources designed for life on the road, Employ supports drivers throughout their journey. This ongoing support helps build long-term relationships, improve retention and maintain a stable, experienced driver network.

Stability in Driver Supply

One of the biggest challenges within agency driver provision is churn. Constantly rotating drivers through operations can reduce consistency, increase onboarding pressure and introduce avoidable operational friction. Employ focuses on building long-term relationships with experienced drivers who regularly support the same operators. Our model prioritises:

  • Consistency of driver allocation
  • Long-term engagement with experienced drivers
  • Driver wellbeing awareness and fatigue management
  • Retention as a strategy for protecting operational performance

Stability in agency supply improves operational efficiency while reducing the onboarding burden placed on transport teams.

Compliance You Can See

Driver supply should strengthen operational control, not introduce risk. Employ operates structured onboarding, documented verification and ongoing monitoring processes designed to support transport operators in maintaining compliance and protecting their operator licence

Compliance as a Foundation

Transport operations operate within one of the most regulated environments in UK industry. Maintaining compliance under operational pressure requires structure, visibility and documented processes.
Employ’s operational framework is built around maintaining compliance integrity across driver supply.

This includes:

  • Documented safety processes and verification systems
  • Clear audit trails for driver documentation
  • Support for operators during compliance scrutiny
  • Structured systems that maintain visibility across agency driver activity

By aligning driver supply with compliance expectations, Employ supports logistics operators in protecting both service performance and operator licence security.

Supporting the Destination Zero Safety Initiative

Employ Recruitment is proud to support the Destination Zero campaign, an industry initiative focused on reducing and ultimately eliminating bridge strikes across the UK.

The campaign was launched at Road Transport Expo with Senior Traffic Commissioner Kevin Rooney, highlighting bridge strike prevention as a national safety priority.

Employ’s Operations Director Leann Lewis acts as an ambassador for the campaign, helping to promote driver awareness and safer practices across the logistics sector.

Driver awareness campaigns

Providing our drivers with information related to issues such as wellbeing, increases awareness regarding compliance as well as improving performance and decreasing the likelihood of an accident. Our recent driver wellbeing campaign communicated via videos, presentations and telephone calls, focused on areas such as fatigue, speed awareness, stress management and physical health.

Recognised for Highest Standards

Employ Recruitment was proud to receive the REC Award for Demonstrating High Standards in Recruitment. While the award was received a few years ago, the principles behind it remain unchanged. Compliance continues to guide how we operate, shaping the systems, processes and standards that support drivers, clients and safe transport operations every day. We continue to collaborate with industry bodies and share best practice to help raise standards across the recruitment and logistics sectors.

We provide  24/7 legal assistance service with LMP Legal who ensure any of our drivers involved in a police attended/blue light attended collision will be offered immediate legal support. The partnership offers national coverage which enables them to provide immediate support from the roadside. Crucially, this is not an insurer helpline or an ‘FNOL’ (First notification of loss) service. It is a direct route through to a criminal lawyer for immediate advice and representation. Aside from the cost and reputational implications, both LMP Legal and Employ believe that it is morally right that drivers are protected when they are driving through the course of their employment.

RESOURCE / DRIVING CENTRE

In a digital world driven by convenience, orchestrated by automation, we believe direct communication has never been more important to build and develop our driver network.
Our Resource section – ‘Driving Centre’, features our latest news, newsletters, campaigns, surveys, initiatives, and videos which we optimise to connect with our drivers.
