DVLA Notices

At Employ, we endeavour to keep our drivers up to date with the latest news within the industry, below is information regarding the DLVA’s new online procedures that have been created to speed up applications and renewals.

Apply and pay for your digital tachograph card online

Paper applications are currently taking longer than normal so we’d like to make you aware that you can now apply and pay online for driver digital tachograph cards using a service that the DLVA says is quicker and easier than a paper application.

The new DVLA digital service allows applications, renewals and replacement of a lost or stolen card in minutes and is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. New tachograph cards will be issued within 24 hours from applying online, compared to 10 days or more if an application is by post. To apply online a valid GB photocard driving licence and credit or debit card will be needed.

After applying, DVLA will send an automated email confirming the application, and there is the option to choose to be updated on its progress by text message. The driver digital tachograph card online application service can be accessed via GOV.UK.

DVLA activates its NOTIFY service for driving licence renewals

In response to the concerns about delays, DVLA has now reinstated its ‘Notify’ service, whereby drivers will receive a confirmation by email, SMS or post that their application has been received at DVLA. This will enable drivers to make an informed decision as to their eligibility under Section 88, while their application is being processed and provide operators with an additional level of assurance.

The service went live on 25 May 2021.

We urge you to include your mobile number and/or email address on their application, as this will ensure DVLA can send a confirmation message as quickly as possible.
